- The Lead: In its first game since December 11th, the MIT men's basketball team suffered an 85-73 defeat against visiting Salve Regina in a NEWMAC contest on Wednesday evening in Rockwell Cage.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- First-year
Isaac Dobie (Kitty Hawk, N.C.) opened the game with a three, but Salve Regina scored the next six points to double up the Engineers. Dobie hit another three at 17:07 to bring the teams even.
Miles Fiore made a pullup jumper at 16:44 to give the Seahawks the lead, which they held on to for the remainder of the game.

- Salve Regina used a 16-0 run in the first half to build a 35-17 lead. MIT followed with a 4-0 run from junior
Spencer Lin (Menlo Park, Calif.) to make it a 25-21 game.
Sean Seymour gave the visitors a 22-point lead with a free throw as the Seahawks took a 51-30 lead into the half.

James Jolly gave Salve its largest lead of the game with a layup at 14:13 that made it 63-36. A three from sophomore
Tim Minicozzi (Belmont, Mass.) followed by a jumper from first-year
Mike Ewing (Mendham, N.J.) got MIT to within 15 at 67-52 with 9:44 remaining. First-year
Samuel Chen (Bellevue, Wash.) hit a three with four seconds left for the final score of 85-73.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The Engineers shot 42.4% from deep (14-33) and 81.8% from the line (9-11).

- Minicozzi and Ewing finished with a team-leading 12 points.

- Lin just missed a triple-double as he finished with 11 points, seven assists, and nine rebounds.

Declan Walmsley led Salve with 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Â
