HOW IT HAPPENED:

- After Babson scored the game's first basket, MIT went on a 7-0 run capped by a tip-in from sophomore Tim Minicozzi (Belmont, Mass.). The Beavers used a 7-2 run to make it a two-point contest (13-11) at the 13:45 mark, but the Engineers held onto the lead until 9:44 when Nate Amado hit a three to give Babson a 17-16 lead.

- The NEWMAC rivals went back-and-forth before a three-point play from first-year Merlin Gogolin (New York, N.Y.) with 2:36 left in the half put MIT up 26-22, and his layup with 18 seconds gave MIT a 27-26 advantage.  Amado hit a jumper as time expired to send the teams into the break with MIT holding onto a 29-28 lead.

-  Babson grabbed the lead early in the second half, and the teams continued to exchange the lead. First-year Michael Zhang (Jacksonville, Fla.) converted a layup with 12:04 left to tie the game at 43, and two free throws by classmate Wyatt Mowery (Winston-Salem, N.C.) gave the Engineers a 45-43 lead.

- With MIT up one,  Amado hit a three to give Babson a 57-55 lead, which they would not relinquish for the remainder of the game as they held off the Engineers for the 64-57 win.
