BRISTOL, R.I. – A pair of goals in the third quarter helped propel the No. 16 MIT field hockey team to a 3-2 victory at Roger Williams University on Wednesday night. Three different players scored for the Engineers with senior
Eva Oppenheim (Tiburon, Calif.) recording what proved to be the game-winning goal late in the third quarter.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Following a scoreless first quarter, MIT got on the board in the 19th minute. She hit the ball towards the far post but it was deflected across the line off a defender.
- Roger Williams netted the equalizer in the 36th but the Engineers quickly responded to take a 2-1 lead in the 39th minute. A scramble during a penalty corner resulted in sophomore Audrey Oh (Longmeadow, Mass.) sending a shot to the top of the cage.
- MIT created some breathing room with just under three minutes remaining in the third quarter. On a penalty corner, a shot by Oppenheim from just inside the arc deflected over the defense.
- The Hawks narrowed the gap to 3-2 just 1:34 into the fourth quarter. However, the Engineers controlled the action for most of the frame as they generated four penalty corners and a shot.
