BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – A series of runs in the fourth quarter helped Bridgewater State University pull away for a 70-61 victory over MIT in a non-conference women's basketball game on Friday night. Senior
Kamsi Nwogu (Algonquin, Ill.) generated 22 points, 10 rebounds, five blocks, and two steals for the Engineers as she became the 11
th player in program history to record 1,000 career points.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Trailing 10-2, a jumper by Nwogu sparked a 19-7 run. However, during the final 51 seconds of the quarter Bridgewater State used a free throw and a jumper to narrow the gap to 21-20.
- A basket by Nwogu nine seconds into the second stanza increased the Engineers' cushion, but the Bears outscored the visitors, 9-2, to take a 29-25 lead midway through the frame. The score remained unchanged until Nwogu's free throw at the 2:43 mark. Bridgewater State replied with back-to-back jumpers, however, a layup from junior Alice Hall (Ambler, Pa.) along with two free throws by Nwogu brought MIT within 33-30 with 36 seconds remaining. A foul right before halftime sent the Bears to the charity stripe where they drained the first of two shots.
- A layup from senior Elise Harvey (Wayland, Mass.) coupled with a three-point play by Nwogu tied the score at 35 just 1:41 into the third quarter. Bridgewater State responded with seven unanswered points, however, a three pointer from senior Sarah Berman (York, Pa.) set off a 10-2 burst that put MIT up, 48-44, at the end of the frame.
- The Bears opened fourth quarter with nine straight points, but the Engineers tied the game at 53 courtesy of another Berman trey and Harvey layup with 6:17 on the clock. Following a Bridgewater State basket, a free throw by senior Olivia Joseph (Newtown Square, Pa.) cut MIT's deficit in half. The Bears countered with an 8-0 run, however, Nwogu's three-point play narrowed the gap to 63-57 with 1:36 remaining. The Engineers would not get any closer as they were outscored, 7-4, down the stretch.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Berman finished with 12 points followed by nine from Joseph. Hall grabbed five rebounds and two steals while sophomore April Chan (Fremont, Calif.) and first-year Libi Matityahoo (Yehud Monosson, Israel) both added five rebounds.
