CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A three pointer by junior Tenley Wallin (Danbury, Conn.) with just over four minutes remaining created enough of a cushion as Endicott College went on to defeat MIT, 75-61, in a non-conference women's basketball on Monday afternoon. Senior
Angie Choi (Cypress, Calif.) powered the Engineers with a game-high 25 points and a team-best six rebounds while senior Libby Fleming (Bangor, Maine) paced the Gulls with 17 points and seven rebounds.
THE BASICS:
- Score: Endicott 75, MIT 61

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- MIT built an 11-4 lead after a layup by senior Kamsi Nwogu (Algonquin, Ill.) at the 4:30 mark. Endicott generated six straight points, but a layup by Choi late in the quarter gave the Engineers a 13-10 edge.
- The hosts opened the second stanza with a trey by sophomore Rachael Zacks (Glencoe, Ill.). However, junior Alyssa Garabedian (Cheshire, Mass.) replied with one of her own, sparking a 14-4 run that resulted in a 24-20 lead for the Gulls. MIT countered with a 10-4 run that included eight points by Choi and put the Engineers in front, 30-28, at halftime.
- The tight play continued in the third quarter as a jumper in the paint by Choi gave MIT a 37-36 lead with 5:30 on the clock. Fleming responded with a layup during Endicott's ensuing possession, which kicked off an 11-3 run. Senior Elise Harvey (Wayland, Mass.) drained back-to-back layups, narrowing the gap to 47-44 with 25 seconds left. However, senior Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) gave the Gulls some breathing room courtesy of a layup right before time expired.
- Endicott carried the momentum into the fourth quarter as a 9-3 burst, which featured one three-pointer by first-year Tricia Wladkowski (Norwood, Mass.) and two from sophomore Cora Nadeau (Newport, Vt.), moved the score to 58-47 at the 5:55 mark. Layups from Nwogu and Harvey kept MIT within striking distance, but Wallin buried the Gulls' fourth trifecta of the frame with 4:14 remaining. Following a brief exchange of baskets, Endicott put together a 12-6 run as it went 8-of-12 from the free throw line down the stretch
