CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 10 MIT men's swimming and diving team set two new program records and grabbed five event wins to cap a successful day two of the MIT Invitational on Saturday night at the Zesiger Center Pool.
Tufts holds the lead with 983 points with MIT in second with 760. RPI sits third with 509 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
1-Meter Diving
- First year Truman Remenicky (Brewerton, N.Y.) finished with a score of 422.55 for fourth overall. Sophomore Jack Tucker (Naples, Fla.) took fifth with a mark of 384.50.
200 Free Relay
- Graduate student Tobe Obochi (Highland Park, Ill.), sophomore Bryce Roberts (Mill Valley, Calif.), junior Thomas Wu (Cedar Park, Texas), and first year Nathan Kim (La Crescenta, Calif.) posted the winning time as they clocked in at 1:20.15.
200 Fly
- First year Ben Wu (New Canaan, Conn.) earned a second place finish with his NCAA B Cut time of 1:48.47. Sophomore Jason Wang (Brentwood, Tenn.) also grabbed a B Cut with this third-place time of 1:48.68.
200 Free
- First year Gidean Karp (The Woodlands, Texas) took the win in 1:38.59 for an NCAA B Cut time in a come-from-behind win.
- Sophomore Taylor Wagner (Colorado Springs, Colo.) grabbed third with a time of 1:40.49.
100 Breast
- Obochi set a new school and pool record with his time of 53.37.
100 Back
- MIT grabbed three B Cut times in the event as Kim led the way with a second-place time of 48.69.
- Junior Zack West (Kailua, Hawaii) finished in 49.02 for third followed by sophomore Aitor Arrese-Igor (Delray Beach, Calif.) in fourth with a time of 49.08.
400 IM
- First year Grant Hu (Allen, Texas) set a pool and school record with his winning time of 3:51.74. Wang took second with a B Cut time of 3:56.21.
50 Free
- Obochi took the top spot in 19.78.
400 Medley Relay
- West, Obochi, Roberts and Kim took second place with a time of 3:13.05 for an NCAA B Cut time.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Obochi holds the fastest times in Division III in the 50-Free and 100-Breast.
- Hu is third in the country in the 400 IM.

- MIT wraps up the MIT Winter Invite tomorrow, Sunday December 8 with prelims starting at 10:00 AM. Diving will begin at 12:30 PM with finals of the swim events starting at 6:00 PM.
