Grant Hu Leads Men's Swim and Dive on Day One of NCAA Championship

INDIANAPOLIS, IN. – The No. 6 MIT men's swimming and diving team opened day one of the 2026 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, hosted at the IU Natatorium with Grant Hu earning a First Team All-American finish in the 500 Free.  

STANDINGS:  
1. Denison – 118 
2. Emory – 97 
3. Chicago – 96 
17. MIT - 14 

HOW IT HAPPENED:    

  • 500 Free: Grant Hu took fifth with a time of 4:24.95, shaving almost two seconds off his prelim swim. 
  • 400 Medley Relay: Aitor Arrese-Igor, Thomas Wu, Bryce Roberts and Nathan Kim posted a prelim time of 3:14.89 to qualify for the consolation final, but the team had a swimmer leave early.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Hu is now a six-time All-American, earning his second All-America honor in the event.  

UP NEXT:    

  • Day two will open tomorrow, Thursday, March 19 with prelims at 10:00 AM followed by the finals at 6:00 PM. Events tomorrow will be the 200 Free, 100 Fly, 400 IM and the 200 Free Relay.
