No. 19 Squash Falls to No. 17 F&M, 6-3, in MASC Third-Place Match

The Lead: The No. 19 MIT squash team dropped a back-and-forth match to No. 17 Franklin and Marshall in the third-place match of the Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference Championships on Sunday afternoon by a 6-3 score.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
 
- Senior Nikhil Kakarla (Philadelphia, Pa.) gave MIT a 1-0 advantage with his 3-0 win over Evann Tan in the seventh position. Junior Tom Hogan (Malvern, Pa.) rallied after dropping the first set to take a 3-1 win in the fifth position and put MIT up 2-0.
 
- The Diplomats won matches in the second and third positions by 3-1 scores to tie up the match at two.
 
- After dropping the opening set by an 11-4 margin, sophomore Mitav Nayak (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) won the next three against Junaber Hinostroza in the eighth position to give the Engineers a 3-2 lead.
 
- F&M grabbed 3-1 wins in the first and ninth positions to pull ahead 4-3. Jordan Sprecher won the match for the Dips with a 3-0 win in the fourth position.

- The Engineers will next compete at the College Squash Association Team Championships which will take place from Thursday, February 29th-Saturday March 2nd.
