- The Lead: The MIT men's swimming and diving team racked up four more victories to increase its lead heading into the final day of the 2024 NEWMAC Swimming and Diving Championships.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:
400 IM
- MIT took spots 2-4 in the event led by first year Jason Wang (Brentwood, Tenn.) with a time of 3:56.75.
- Junior Roderick Huang (Cupertino, Calif.) finished in third with a time of 3:57.85 followed by senior Aaron Zhu (Chelmsford, Mass.) in fourth (4:00.04).
- Wang and Huang recorded season-best times.

100-Butterfly
- First year Bryce Roberts (Mill Valley, Calif.) took gold with his time of 47.96. Sophomore Zack West (Kailua, Hawaii) finished third with a time of 49.04.
- Roberts set a new meet record and ranks 10th in the country.

200-Free
- MIT finished in spots 2-4 led by senior Jaden Luo (Austin, Texas) who took second in 1:37.54 after dropping two seconds off his morning swim.
- Senior Brian Li (Austin, Texas) finished in third with a personal best time of 1:39.48 and sophomore Eugene Jiang (Baton Rouge, La.) touched the wall in fourth with a time of 1:41.07.

100-Breast
- Sophomore Thomas Wu (Cedar Park, Texas) claimed the top spot as he touched the wall with a personal best time of 54.45. Junior Jacob McCarran (Pittsburgh, Pa.) finished second in 55.61.
- Wu is now ranked 11th in the country and set a new pool and meet record.

100-Back
- The Engineers swept the top spots.
- First year Aitor Arrese-Igor (Delray Beach, Fla.) claimed his first NEWMAC win with a time of 49.15. West took second with a time of 49.84, and first-year Jake Geoghegan (Great Falls, Va.) took third in 51.05.

1-Meter Dive
- First year Jack Tucker (Naples, Fla.) finished in third with a score of 400.95.
Â
200-Medley Relay
- MIT won the event with a time of 1:27.72. Sophomore Theo Chen (Plano, Texas) led off with a 22.80 in the back followed by Luo (24.33) and Roberts (21.30). Senior Tobe Obochi (Highland Park, Ill.) brought home the win with a 19.29 free swim.
- The team tied the NEWMAC record and currently ranks as the fifth fastest time in the country.

- Championship Sunday begins tomorrow with prelims at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m. The event will conclude with the 1,650 free, 200-back, 100-free, 200-fly, and concludes with the 400-free relay.
