Five Engineers scored in double figures, led by Dobie's game-high 25 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Engineers took a 9-3 lead with a layup from first year Merlin Gogolin (New York, N.Y.) at 18:19. Sophomore Tim Minicozzi (Belmont, Mass.) made it an eight-point lead with a layup at 17:40. A three from Dobie put MIT up 38-37 with 5:07 left, as the Engineers ended the half on a 17-6 run to take a 52-43 lead into the break. First year Samuel Chen (Bellevue, Wash.) scored ten points for MIT during the run.

- Emerson opened the second half on an 11-0 run to take a 54-52 lead. Dobie ended the run with a layup to tie the game at 54, and the two teams continued to go back and forth. Jacob Armant hit a three with 10:48 left to give Emerson a 70-67 lead and followed with a layup to make it a five-point game. Two free throws from junior Spencer Lin (Menlo Park, Calif.) tied the game at 74 with 8:24 remaining.

- First year Mike Ewing (Mendham, N.J.) converted a three-point play to give MIT an 81-78 lead, but Emerson tied the game again with a three from Shay Roban. A three from senior Luke Wagner (Austin, Texas) and another three-point play from Ewing gave MIT an 86-81 lead with 4:59 left. Ten-straight points from Emerson gave them a 91-87 lead with 2:34 left, but Dobie hit back-to-back shots, including a three with 50 seconds left to give MIT the lead, and the Engineers held on for the 94-93 win.
