The Lead:Â A trio of three-run innings by MIT powered the Engineers to a victory over Mitchell College, 10-6, in a non-conference baseball game on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- SeniorÂ
Michael Finch (Brentwood, Tenn.) reached on an error with two runners on base, which allowed seniorÂ
Teddy Schoenfeld (Boulder, Colo.) to score the first run of the game in the first inning. The Engineers scored three more runs and pushed the lead to 4-0 in the third. A single by Schoenfeld brought home
Lawrence Tang (Hopkinton, Mass.), and a triple by
Zev Moore (Jerusalem, Israel) added two more runs for MIT.
- A single from
Adam Vartanian and a double from
Owen Robbins helped the Mariners cut the lead down to 4-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning.
- MIT scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning. Moore brought home Schoenfeld on a SAC fly, and a two-run homer by Finch boosted the Engineers lead to 7-2.
- A three-run double by
Michael Ficocelli got the Mariners closer in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Thai-ler Sestokas reached on a fielder's choice, scoring
Cole Lalli to cut the deficit to 7-6 in the bottom of the eighth inning.
- The Engineers stretched the lead for good as a base hit from graduate studentÂ
Jake Sonandres (Torrance, Calif.) allowed senior
Tyler Godfrey (Rowley, Mass.) to cross home plate, and a double from Finch later on in the inning drove Sonandres and Schoenfeld home.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Schoenfeld went 3-for-5, registering two runs and a stolen base. Finch was 3-for-6 with one home run, double, and four RBI while Moore collected three RBI.

Phillip Hood (Grapevine, Texas) picks up his first pitching victory of his career. Senior
Saketh Gabbita (Ashburn, Va.) collected his first save of the season.
