Men's Swim and Dive Collects All-American Honors On Day Two of NCAA Championships

THE BASICS:
 
- Location: Greensboro, N.C. (Greensboro Aquatic Center)
 
- Standings: 10th (84 points)
 
- The Lead: The MIT men's swim and dive program earned All-American honors in four events as the Engineers sit in 10th place with 84 points after two days of the 2024 NCAA Swimming and Diving National Championships.
 
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:
 
200 Free Relay
  • Senior Tobe Obochi (Highland Park, Ill.) led off the relay for the Engineers followed by senior Jaden Luo (Austin, Texas), sophomore Eugene Jiang (Baton Rouge, La.). and first year Bryce Roberts (Mill Valley, Calif.).
  • The team posted a time of 1:19.82 to finish sixth overall, just .10 seconds behind Carnegie Mellon in fifth.
  • Roberts earned his second All-American honor at this year's championship and Jiang earned his first All-American honor.
  • Luo recorded his first All-American honor in the event and 11th overall. Obochi is a three-time All-American in the event as he was on the 2023 team that took fifth and the 2022 team that won the National Championship.
100-Fly
  • Roberts earned All-American honors with his 13th-place finish. He clocked in with a time of 48.33. 
200-Free
  • Luo became a three-time All-American in the event with his 15th-place finish as he touched the wall in 1:39.05.
400 Medley Relay
  • The Engineers took 13th in the race with a time of 3:17.19.
  • Sophomore Zack West led off in the back and was followed by junior Jacob McCarran (Pittsburgh, Pa.) who swam the breast in 56.08. Roberts posted a time of 47.81 in the fly, and Obochi brought the team home with a time of 47.81.
  • Obochi brings his All-American total up to 16 and is now a three-time All-American in the event. West earned his second All-American honor with McCarran notching his second in the event. Roberts is now a four-time All-American.
UP NEXT:

- MIT will compete in the 100 breast and 800 Free relay tomorrow. Prelims for the event will begin at 10 a.m. with finals at 6 p.m.
