- Records: MIT (8-7, 0-1 NEWMAC), Babson (6-6, 1-0 NEWMAC)

- Location: Cambridge, Mass. (Fran O'Brien Field)

- The Lead: The MIT baseball team fell to Babson College on Tuesday afternoon, 14-8, in the team's NEWMAC opener at Fran O'Brien Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- After MIT got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning, the Beavers got five runs on the board through the fifth inning including a two-run homer from Luke Tanner and an RBI single from Ike Kiely.

- MIT scored three in the bottom of the fifth to cut the deficit to one which included a two-run homer into right field from junior Malachi Soqui (Castaic, Calif.).

- Babson scored three more runs in the top of the sixth and the Engineers' got one back in the bottom half on a solo homer to right from graduate student Kyle Sonandres (Torrance, Calif.).

- The Beavers scored five runs in the next two innings to stretch their lead to 13-5. However, that lead was cut down to five when a three-run shot to left-center from junior Reed Tubbs (Pflugerville, Texas.) made it 13-8, giving the Engineers one more chance to rally back.

- Tanner launched his second homer of the game into left-center in the top of the final inning as that would be the final run as the Beavers held on for the 14-8 win.
