The Lead: No. 16 MIT scored just 1:28 into the game and never looked back as it cruised to a 23-2 victory over Clark University in a NEWMAC women's lacrosse game on Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore
Ashley Thomas (Summit, N.J.) powered the Engineers with five goals and five assists as she became the 26
th player in program history to record 100 career points.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- MIT generated eight unanswered goals in the first quarter with Thomas being a factor in four of them. She produced three goals and then her assist on senior
Meredith Arterburn's (Cooksville, Md.) goal resulted in her 100
th point.

- The Engineers continued to increase their advantage as they netted five goals in the second quarter, establishing a 13-0 margin at halftime. Junior
Julianne Flusche (Ridgewood, N.J.), who scored twice during the opening frame, notched two goals, including a player-advantage free-position shot, and an assist.

- Clark ended the shutout courtesy of a player-advantage free-position goal 2:15 into the third quarter. MIT countered with three straight goals, capped by a player-advantage strike from first-year
Jillian Butler (Brecksville, Ohio) that was set up by Thomas. The Cougars found the back of the net with two minutes remaining, but junior
Sydney Pyon (Garnet Valley, Pa.) responded with a goal of her own right before time expired, making the score 17-2.

- The Engineers added six goals in the final frame, highlighted by the first intercollegiate goals from first-years
Maeve McGinnis (Brunswick, Ohio) and
Ava Malysa (Manhasset, N.Y.).

Ellie Rabenold (Cincinnati, Ohio) tallied two goals, three assists, and draw controls as sophomore
Gwen Flusche (Ridgewood, N.J.) posted one goal and four assists.
Julianne Flusche ended the day with four goals and one assist while Arterburn compiled three goals, one assist, seven draw controls, and two caused turnovers. Senior
Grace Harrington (Seattle, Wash.) contributed two groundballs and one caused turnover as Butler chipped in four draw controls and two groundballs.
