Baseball Defeated by Jumbos, 9-1

THE BASICS:
 
- Score: Tufts -  9, MIT -  1

- Records: MIT (9-13), Tufts (13-9)

- Location: Cambridge, Mass. (Fran O'Brien Field)

- The Lead: Tufts collected four first-inning runs and would not look back as they defeated MIT in non-conference play, 9-1, on Wednesday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

- A fielding error drew the game's first run to plate Jesse McCullough. Two RBI doubles from Jackson Reydel and Connor Flavin and a SAC fly from Patrick Solomon gave the Jumbos four in the first.  

- Tufts scored five more runs across the next four innings, stretching its lead to 9-0.

- The Engineers were held scoreless until the bottom of the ninth when sophomore Zev Moore (Jerusalem, Israel) singled up the middle to bring home sophomore Eitan Moore (Jerusalem, Israel).

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Junior Malachi Soqui (Castaic, Calif.) led the Engineers at the plate, going 2-for-3 in his at-bats. 

- Senior Jonathan Berger (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) falls to 0-1 on the year for MIT while freshman Michael O'Brien improves to 1-2 for the Jumbos.
  
UP NEXT:

- MIT will look to bounce back next Tuesday as they return to NEWMAC action on the road to face Springfield College. First pitch is set for 3:30 pm.
