The Lead:Â In a NEWMAC matchup on Tuesday afternoon, the MIT baseball team dropped a 10-3 road final to Babson at Govoni Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Babson got on the board in the bottom of the first inning, scoring five unanswered runs to start the game and would get another run in the bottom of the second to put themselves up 6-0.
-Â MIT got on the board in the top of the third inning, scoring its first run of the game on an RBI groundout from
senior
Tyler Godfrey (Rowley, Mass.). Babson responded a half-inning later as an RBI single brought its lead to 7-1.
- A solo right-field home run from senior
Michael Finch (Brentwood, Tenn.) and an RBI single from Godfrey cut the deficit to 7-3
.
- Babson got its final three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning which sealed the deal for the Beavers as they would win 10-3.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Kennan Gumbs (New York, N.Y.) led the Engineers at the plate, going 2-for-3 in his at-bats. Finch collected his eighth home run of the year.

Reed Tubbs (Pflugerville, Texas.) fell to 0-2 on the year.
