The Lead: The MIT baseball team earned a doubleheader split with Wheaton on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon on Fran O'Brien Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME ONE
- Wheaton loaded the bases in the top of the first before senior
Karl Meyer (Indianapolis, Ind.) struck out the next two batters. The Lyons pushed a run a cross but Meyer got the final out to leave the bases loaded.

- Senior
Teddy Schoenfeld (Boulder, Colo.) tied the game with an RBI groundout in the third and gave the Engineers a 2-1 lead with a single in the fifth. Junior
Reed Tubbs (Pflugerville, Texas) made it 3-1 with an RBI double to plate Schoenfeld, and graduate student
Kyle Sonandres (Torrance, Calif.) hit s single to score Tubbs and make it 4-1.

- Sophomore
Zev Moore (Jerusalem, Isreal) hit a two-run double to center to extend the MIT lead to 6-1 in the sixth.

- Wheaton looked to rally in its last at-bats as
Mike Maher doubled home two runs to cut the MIT lead to three, but junior
Brian Rapanan (Gurnee, Ill.) got
Timmy Wagner swinging to secure the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Tubbs, Sonandres, and Moore led MIT with two hits each in the game.

- Meyer went the first three innings and scattered three hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. Sophomore
Chase Rubin (Arlington, Va.) earned his second win with three innings of two-hit ball and three Ks. Rapanan got his second save as he allowed two hits with two Ks.

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME TWO
- Wheaton held a 2-0 lead until Moore singled home two runs in the fourth to tie the game.

- The Lyons responded with four runs in the top of the fifth to pull ahead 6-2, but Sonandres singled home graduate student
Jake Sonandres (Torrance, Calif.) to cut the lead to 6-3.

- Wheaton tacked on two more runs in the seventh and eighth to secure the 8-3 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
