THE BASICS:

- Meet: 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championship

- Location: Myrtle Beach, S.C. (Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium)

- Results: 2nd of 54 (26 Points)

- The Lead: Junior Alexis Boykin (Clayton, Ohio) won the shot put title on her final attempt at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Friday. As a result, she became the first student-athlete in the history of the MIT women's track and field program to win this event at the outdoor championship, less than four months after she won the program's first indoor national championship.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:

- Boykin fouled during her first two attempts, but her throw of 14.55m (47' 9") put her at the top of the standings heading into the finals. She then reclaimed the lead with a personal-best throw of 15.44m (50' 8") to capture the shot put crown. Boykin, a fourth-place finisher last year, won her second career outdoor championship and fourth overall. In addition, her winning throw ranks sixth all-time in Division III.

- Junior Marina Miller (Bel Air, Md.) and senior Julia Howarth (Barrington, R.I.) earned All-America Second Team honors following their performances in the prelims of their events. Miller finished 10th with a time of 55.965 in the 400m while Howarth placed 12th with a time of 2:11.85 in the 800m.
