MARLBOROUGH, Mass. -- MIT women's track and field seniors
Shreya Kalyan and
Elaine Wang have been named the NEWMAC Women's Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 29, 2026. Kalyan was named the Track Athlete of the Week, while Wang earned Field Athlete of the Week honors. The award is the first for both this season and in their respective careers.
Kalyan, from Troy, Mich., excelled in a pair of sprint events at the Raleigh Relays, delivering a personal record of 24.92 in the 200m to finish 52nd overall and a time of 56.57 to finish 51st in the 400m. Kalyan's time in the 200m is currently the 13th best in the nation and the third best in the region, while her time in the 400m ranks in the top ten nationally and second in the region.
Wang, a native of West Des Moines, Iowa set a personal record in the javelin with a throw of 43.76m (143'7") to finish 11th at the Raleigh Relays. Her mark ranked inside the top ten in MIT program history, is a top-five throw nationally, and the top mark in the region to begin the outdoor season.
MIT will compete at the Sam Howell Invitational in Princeton, NJ and the UConn Dog Fight in Storrs, CT on Saturday, April 4.
