The Lead: The MIT men's lightweight crew team wrapped up the season with Varsity 8+ winning the Petite Final at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championship while the Varsity 4+ finished second in its Petite Final on Sunday.
INSIDE THE RACES:
- The V8 finished fourth in its heat with a time of 5:50.782. Harvard took the top spot in 5:42.228, followed by Dartmouth (5:46.912), and then Cornell (5:49.962). Racing Yale in the Petite Final, MIT recorded a 3.087-second victory as it crossed the finish line in 5:50.216.
- The V4+ placed sixth in its time trial as it crossed the line in 6:21.520, over four seconds ahead of Princeton. On Friday afternoon in its semifinal, the Engineers finished fourth in 6:36.816. Penn led the way with a time of 6:32.039, followed by Harvard (6:34.569) and then Princeton (6:35.316). In the Petite Final on Saturday morning, Navy claimed the victory in 6:37.077 as the Engineers finished 3.787 seconds later for the runner-up spot, which was comfortably ahead of Dartmouth.
