New Orleans, La. (July 18) – Sophomore
Jackson Bliey (Talleyville, Del.) was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Men's Outdoor National Scholar Field Athlete of the Year as announced by the organization earlier this week. In addition, the Engineers produced 20 All-Academic Athlete qualifiers and received the All-Academic Team Award as their overall cumulative GPA of 3.75 on a 4.0 grading scale ranked third among all Division III programs.
Â
Bliey, who has a 3.64 GPA while majoring in computer science and engineering, earned National Scholar Field Athlete of the Year honors after winning the high jump title with a personal-best mark of 2.17m (7' 0.5") at the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship. This is the third year in a row MIT collected USTFCCCA Men's Outdoor National Scholar Athlete of the Year plaudits as sophomore
Enoch Ellis (Garland, Texas) and graduate student
Kenneth Wei (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) were previous track honorees.
Â
