Bryn Mawr, Pa. – Sophomore
Ingrid Tomovski (Bosch en Duin, Netherlands) converted a penalty stroke almost four minutes into overtime to lift the No. 17 MIT field hockey team to a 2-1 victory against Bryn Mawr College on Sunday afternoon. Tomovski also assisted the Engineers' first tally, marking the second year in a row she has generated multiple points in the Engineers' season opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- MIT got on the scoreboard after 31 seconds elapsed when senior
Eva Oppenheim (Larkspur, Calif.) redirected a feed from Tomovski through a crowd in front of the goal.
- Throughout the remainder of the first half, sophomore goalie
Maeve Zimmer (Rockville, Md.) made four saves while the Engineers fought off six penalty corners to help preserve their 1-0 lead.
- During its seventh penalty corner of the third quarter, Bryn Mawr notched the equalizer in the 36
th minute. Late in the frame, senior
Jordan Dattero (Setauket, N.Y.) thwarted a dangerous breakaway to preserve the deadlock. MIT was awarded a trio of penalty corners in the last two minutes with one resulting in a shot by McIntyre that was saved.
- The Engineers had the upper hand in the fourth quarter as they earned four penalty corners and did not concede any to the Owls while they also had a 3-0 advantage in shots. Recipients of a pair of penalty corners during the final 13 seconds of regulation, MIT nearly netted the game-winner, but sophomore
Jane Tortorella's (Old Greenwich, Conn.) shot was saved right before time expired.
- In overtime, junior
Bailey McIntyre (Concord, Mass.) intercepted a pass in Bryn Mawr's backfield and as she ran to the far post she was fouled. Tomovski then buried the resulting penalty stroke for the victory in the 64
th minute.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Senior goalie
Anna Duncan (St. Louis, Mo.) made two saves during the second half and did not face a shot in the extra session.
- Both teams totaled eight shots, however, the Owls had a 7-6 edge in shots on goal. The hosts also led the way in penalty corners (14-9).
- This was the first meeting between both teams.
- MIT opened the season on the road for the first time since 2010 and registered its fourth straight season-opening victory.
