Luk Leads No. 11 Women's Soccer to 3-0 Win Over Lesley

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior Sean Luk (Bel Air, Md.) scored two goals and tallied an assist to lead the No. 11 MIT women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Lesley on Saturday afternoon on Roberts Field.
 
THE BASICS
  • Score: No. 11 MIT 3, Lesley 0

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
  • Luk got the Engineers on the board in the 24th minute on her free kick goal from over 20 yards out. Luk placed the shot into the corner of the net for her first goal of the season.
  • Luk made it 2-0 just over a minute into the second half when senior Meagan Rowlett (Dana Point, Calif.) sent a pass cross-field to Luk for her second goal of the day at 46:52.
  • Senior Emiko Pope (St. Louis, Mo.) received a long pass from Luk and tapped the ball into the goal at 51:25.
  • Lesley had its best scoring chance of the day at 59:54 but first year Maddy Noll (Northbrook, Ill.) made a diving save to keep the Lynx off the board.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 
  • This was the first multi-goal game in Luk's career. She has registered a point in all three games for MIT this season. Her five points are also a career-best.
  • With her assist, Rowlett now has 20 in her career to rank 10th all-time and it brings her point total to 114, which ranks fourth in program history.
  • Junior Ava Muffoletto (Kings Park, N.Y.) did not allow a goal in 59 minutes of play to notch her first win of the season. Noll saw 30 minutes of action and had one save on the day.
  • The MIT defense has not allowed a goal this season and has given up just 17 shots.
  • Junior Madison Reed (Burlingame, Calif.) made a career-high 11 stops in goal for the Lynx.

  •  MIT remains at Roberts as the Engineers welcome Brandeis for a 12:00 PM match on Saturday, September 14.
