WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – In a meet featuring three top 15 teams, the No. 7 MIT men's swimming and diving team fell to No. 1 NYU and No. 14 Williams at the Samuelson-Muir Pool in Williamstown, Mass. on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
400 Medley Relay
- The Engineers team of junior Zack West (Kailua, Hawaii), first year Grant Hu (Allen, Texas), first year Ben Wu (New Canaan, Conn.), and junior Thomas Wu (Cedar Park, Texas) opened the event with a third-place finish in the 400-Medley Relay. MIT completed the event in 3:26.25. NYU clocked in with the fastest time of 3:24.11.

- Sophomore John Tietjen (Leawood, Kan.) finished in sixth with a time of 16:43.11 and first year Gidean Karp (The Woodlands, Texas) took eighth with a time of 17:49.68.
200 Free
- Hu came just short of a win with his time of 1:41.23. Oliver Schalet (Horseheads, N.Y.) of Williams won with a time of 1:41.11. First year Kelson Cantrell (Walnut Creek, Calif.) and sophomore Jason Wang (Brentwood, Tenn.) finished fourth and fifth in the event.

- West took fourth with a time of 52.42.
100 Breast
- Senior Roderick Huang (Cupertino, Calif.) clocked in at 59.88 for a seventh-place finish.
200 Fly
- Wang won the event for MIT with a time of 1:53.04 just beating out Ryan Nunez (Merrick, N.Y.) of Williams who finished in 1:53.18.
50 Free
- Thomas Wu took tenth overall with a time of 22.09.
3-Meter Dive
- Sophomore Jack Tucker (Naples, Fla.) finished with a score of 230.50 for seventh.
1-Meter Dive
- Tucker took sixth with a mark of 232.95.
100 Free
- Hu finished in 47.09 for sixth overall, just .09 seconds behind Shyam Soundararajan (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) of NYU.
200 Back
- West finished in fifth with a time of 1:55.25.
200 Breast
- Wang and Huang finished 3-4 in the event. Wang finished with a time of 2:07.76 while Huang finished in 2:09.06.
500 Free
- Tietjen finished in fourth with a time of 4:46.72.
100 Fly
- Ben Wu took second to Barrett Heritage (Mountain View, Calif.) of Williams with a time of 50.50. Heritage clocked in with a time of 50.24 for the win.
400 IM
- Hu completed the event in 4:00.88 for a second-place finish. Huang took fifth with a time of 4:10.94.
