CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 19 MIT men's squash team dropped a hard-fought match to No. 12 Williams, 5-4, on Thursday afternoon at the Zesiger Squash Courts.
The teams went to five sets in four of the nine matches.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sophomore John Gunton (Lawrenceville, N.J.) and senior Jack Lee (San Francisco, Calif.) played a five-set match in the third ladder with Gunton taking the first two sets, 11-8, 11-2. Lee then rallied to win the next three, 11-2, 11-6, 11-2. The Ephs grabbed a 2-1 lead with another five-set win in the fourth ladder.
- First-year Zachary Starr (Dover, N.H.) got MIT on the board with a 3-1 win in the seventh ladder, and sophomore Mero Elmarassy (Santa Clara, Calif.) tied the match at two all with a five-set win in the top position. After dropping the second and third sets, Elmarassy rallied to win the next two.
- Williams took a 3-1 win in the eighth ladder and a 3-0 victory in the fifth position and a 3-2 win in the fourth.
- Junior Hyun Su Price (Philadelphia, Pa.) grabbed a 3-2 win in the second position and junior Lars Barkman (Pittsburgh, Pa.) won a 3-1 match in the ninth ladder.

MIT will compete in the Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference Championships (MASC) from Saturday, February 8-Sunday, February 9. The Engineers will open play against Drexel on the 8th at 4:00 PM at the Lancaster Country Day School.
