CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Roger Williams University generated three first-half goals en route to a 4-1 victory over MIT in a non-conference field hockey game on Wednesday night.
Jane Tortorella found the back of the cage for the Engineers while Chelsea King recorded a hat trick for the Hawks.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Hannah Timbrouck opened the scoring when she knocked in the rebound of Maddy Monahan's saved shot after 6:25 elapsed in the game.
- King increased the lead for Roger Williams just 48 seconds into the second quarter during a scramble in front of the cage.
- The Hawks' advantage grew to 3-0 almost 90 seconds later. Monahan sent a pass from the far side that went through a crowd and into the circle where it was redirected by King at the near post.
- MIT controlled the action during the last 10 minutes of the frame as it recorded four penalty corners and four shots on goal, but it could not break through.
- Following a scoreless third quarter, the Engineers ended the shutout 56 seconds into the fourth quarter with a player advantage. Sierra Kim sent the ball into the circle where it was corralled by Tortorella whose shot made its way through traffic to the near post.
- MIT continued to press but King provided the final goal of the night in the 55th minute. During a penalty corner, Monahan's shot was blocked but King collected the ball at the far post and quickly tapped it in.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Maeve Zimmer made five saves for the Engineers while Hannah Brazil racked up eight saves for the visitors.
- Both teams produced nine shots on goal, however, MIT led the way in shots (17-11) and penalty corners (12-4).

- MIT will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, November 1 when it hosts NEWMAC rival Wellesley College at 1:00 PM.
- Roger Williams will return to action on Wednesday, November 5 in the semifinals of the Conference of New England Tournament.
