BABSON PARK, Mass. – The MIT field hockey team fell to No. 6 Babson College, 2-0, in NEWMAC action on Tuesday night at MacDowell Field.
Maeve Zimmer collected seven saves for the Engineers.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- MIT had the upper hand in the first quarter as it had advantages in shots (3-0), shots on goal (2-0), and penalty corners (1-0), but it could not break through.
- Babson ended the scoreless affair in the 23rd minute courtesy of a solo effort by Penny Baroni.
- The Beavers controlled the action in the third quarter as they generated six shots, five of which were stopped by Zimmer.
- The first half of the fourth quarter was a defensive battle until Baroni converted a penalty stroke with 7:06 on the clock.
- Bailey McIntyre nearly buried the equalizer almost two minutes before Babson's second goal, but her attempt was saved by Madison Tibbals.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- MIT had a 3-2 edge in penalty corners, but the Beavers led the way in shots (12-5) and shots on goal (9-4).
