CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The No. 8 nationally ranked and top-seed in the NEWMAC Tournament, MIT women's soccer team captured the program's 10th conference championship with a 3-0 win over second-seeded Springfield College on Saturday afternoon on Roberts Field.
The Engineers have now won three-straight NEWMAC Championships and seven of the last eight. MIT will be making the program's 14th NCAA Tournament overall and ninth consecutive.
Leena Mehendale was named the NEWMAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player, and earned the NEWMAC Laurels of Academic Excellence Award.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Natalie Barnouw sent a pass back out to Alice Vranka who quickly sent it right back to Barnouw for the one-footed goal at 12:07.
- Sean Luk got through the Pride defense and hit Barnouw in stride in front of the goal. Barnouw one-touched the ball into the corner of the goal for her second score of the half at 24:47.
- Chloe Dai lifted a ball to Lauren Won who put the ball into the back of the net at 75:25 to seal the win for the Engineers.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Barnouw now has 20 goals this season which ties the program record for goals in a season while her 53 points are a new program record. Her 138 career points ties the program record, and she is four goals shy of the career goal mark as she currently has 52.
- Luk tallied her ninth assist while Vranka and Dai got their second.
- Won scored her fourth goal of the season.
- Ava Muffoletto improves to 17-0 as she made one save in the first half. Maddy Noll made one save in the second half to secure the shutout.
- The Engineers defense allowed just five total shots and got the 18th shutout of the season, which is two shy of the program record.
