BEVERLY, Mass. – The MIT women's basketball team used a 9-1 run late in the third quarter to create enough of a cushion as it went on to defeat Endicott College, 70-54, on Monday night. One of four players to reach double digits in scoring,
April Chan paced the Engineers with 14 points to go along with six rebounds, six assists, and two steals.
THE BASICS:
- Score: MIT 70, Endicott 54

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Trailing 13-9, a three pointer by Mariam Abdelbarr sparked a 12-4 run that was capped by Chan's three-point play with 24 seconds remaining. However, Endicott drained a layup right before time expired, making the score 21-19.
- The Gulls tied the game 11 seconds into the second quarter, but a layup by Mary Lobon kicked off a string of 10 unanswered points which gave MIT a 31-21 lead at the 5:18 mark. Both teams traded baskets until a free throw and a layup brought Endicott within 35-28 with 40 seconds left. Chan sank a layup; however, the Gulls produced another buzzer-beating layup to end the period.
- The Engineers maintained their small cushion for most of the third quarter until back-to-back layups brought Endicott within 44-39 at the 3:49 mark. A minute later, two free throws from Olivia Joseph kicked off MIT's pivotal 9-1 run that closed out the quarter.
- The Engineers' double-digit margin held during the fourth quarter as a 15-2 run created their largest lead of the night at 23 points (70-47) with 2:17 left to play.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Abdelbarr totaled 11 points, four rebounds, and two steals while Joseph added 11 points.
- Riley O'Sullivan generated 10 points five rebounds, three steals, and one block.

- MIT will travel to Tufts University on Wednesday, December 3 for a 7:00 PM non-conference tilt.
