CLEVELAND – MIT is currently tied for 10th place in 2025-26 Division III Learfield Directors' Cup Standings following the release of the 2025 fall standings.
MIT and Christopher Newport are tied with 272.00 points. Tufts (485.00 total points) leads Division III, while Johns Hopkins is in second with 454.50 points, Washington-St. Louis is in third with 358.50 points, Williams is in fourth with 343.50 points and Trinity (TX) is in fifth with 334.00 points. The Engineers and Christopher Newport are six points back of Wisconsin La Crosse (278.00 points) in ninth.
MIT currently leads the NEWMAC, with Babson the closest school in the standings with 183.00 points. WPI (85.00), Springfield (75.00) and Wheaton (73.00) are also ranked inside the top 10.
MIT earned 143 points on the strength of the men's and women's cross country programs, as both squads finished in the top ten at this year's NCAA Division III Championships. The women placed fifth to claim 75 points and the men's team was ninth overall to earn 69 points. MIT added 64 more points in the women's soccer as the Engineers finished the year with a 22-3-1 record and advanced to the third round of the NCAA tournament before falling to WashU, 1-0. MIT also claimed 64 points for advancing to the regional final in women's volleyball before falling to Trinity (TX), as the squad finished the season with a 29-4 record.
The final fall standings for Division I and Division III will be published on Thursday, January 22 following the conclusion of the Division III Football Championship. The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
