Sport Shorts Spotlight: Zhang’s 20 Points Power Engineers to First Conference Win


Junior Michael Zhang led the MIT men's basketball team to a 60-55 road win over Wheaton College on Saturday, securing their first NEWMAC victory. After trailing at halftime, the Engineers surged ahead with a strong second-half start and built a double-digit lead. Although Wheaton rallied to cut the deficit to three points in the final minutes, MIT's defense held firm. Zhang, who finished with a game-high 20 points, sank two decisive free throws in the closing seconds to seal the win.

Men's basketball returns home to Rockwell Cage on Tuesday evening for a 6:30 PM NEWMAC contest versus Emerson.
