Sport Shorts Spotlight: No. 5 Women, No. 12 Men Dominate Winter Invitational with Sweep of Top-25 Field
The MIT men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams secured a decisive double victory at the 2025 MIT Winter Invitational. Competing against ranked opponents Tufts and Hamilton, the Engineers swept the three-day meet, with the men taking 16 of 20 events and the women sweeping all five relays. The meet produced elite speed, with 15 swims across both the men's and women's sides now ranked in the top 10 nationally.
Men’s Highlights The No. 12 men’s team finished with 1,706 points. Grant Hu headlined the weekend, setting a new program and pool record in the 400 IM (3:51.57) and posting the second-fastest 200 Free split in school history during the winning 800 Free Relay. The team saw additional individual wins from Evan Wong (200 Free), Thomas Wu (100 Breast), and Bryce Roberts (100 Fly).
Women’s Highlights The No. 5 women’s team finished with 1,666.
50 points, anchored by their relay dominance. The 800 Free Relay quartet of Mary Feliz, Belise Swartwood, Sydney Smith, and Ella Roberson recorded a time of 7:23.52, currently the fastest time in Division III. Individually, Sarah Bernard cleared the field with wins in the 100 Breast, 200 Breast, and 400 IM, while Fiora Beratahani took first on the 1-Meter board.
