CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT scored 33 seconds into the game and never looked back as it went on to defeat Clark University, 23-1, in a NEWMAC women's lacrosse game on Wednesday night at Jack Barry Field. Junior
Ashley Thomas (Summit, N.J.) generated five goals and four assists for the Engineers while senior Aubrey Conners (Devon, Pa.) found the back of the net for the Cougars.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Senior Julianne Flusche (Ridgewood, N.J.) opened the scoring when she connected on a pass from junior Gwen Flusche (Ridgewood, N.J.). MIT followed with six consecutive goals as junior Annica Lam (Livingston, N.J.), senior Sydney Pyon (Garnet Valley, Pa.), and Thomas each scored twice.
- Conners ended the shutout with four seconds left in the first quarter.
- The Engineers produced five goals in the second quarter, resulting in a 12-1 lead at halftime. Julianne Flusche kicked off the frame with back-to-back goals as she, along with Thomas and Pyon, completed hat tricks. Junior Nina Petulla (Natick, Mass.) also added a goal for the hosts.
- MIT registered six goals in the third quarter as Thomas was a factor in three goals and first-year Alexis Reinard (Nottingham, Pa.) contributed to two. Thomas notched two goals and an assist while Reinard had a goal and an assist.
- The Engineers recorded five goals in the fourth quarter, for the 23-1 final score. Lam powered the attack with three goals.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Lam finished with five goals and one assist while Julianne Flusche posted four goals.
- Pyon tallied four goals, four draw controls, and two groundballs as Reinard had one goal, three assists, and three draw controls.
- Sophomore Laura Day (Saybrook, Conn.) generated four groundballs and two draw controls while Gwen Flusche collected seven draw controls and two groundballs.
- Petulla contributed two caused turnovers, one goal, and one assist as sophomore Jillian Butler (Brecksville, Ohio) added four draw controls, two groundballs, and a goal.
- In net, sophomore Pauline Vien (Brookline, Mass.) made five saves in the first half while classmate Christina Fradella (Massapequa, N.Y.) turned away three shots in the second half.
- Graduate student Greer McCarty (White River Junction, Vt.) notched three groundballs, one draw control, and one caused turnover as junior Elizabeth Cacciapaglia (Ridgefield, Conn.) totaled two groundballs, two draw controls, and two caused turnovers for Clark.
- In net, senior Annie Battle (Bozeman, Mont.) made six saves in the first half while junior Victoria Holden (Westfield, Mass.) had two saves in the second half.
