CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The No. 8 MIT men's lightweight crew had to contend with difficult conditions and increasing wind as the Engineers hosted Bates and Trinity on Sunday morning on the Charles River. 

THE BASICS:

• V8+: 2nd of 3
• 2V8+: 3rd of 3
• 3V8+: 3rd of 3

RACE BY RACE: 

• 3V8+: Trinity was the top crew in the day's first race finishing in 7:14.5 ahead of second place Bates in 7:26.2 and MIT in third in 8:04.1.
• 2V8+: As conditions worsened, it was Bates that took the 2V race in 7:33.2. The Bobcats found the late charge to defeat second place Trinity, with Trinity finishing in 7:34.6. MIT was third in 8:12.7. 
• V8+: MIT finished second to Trinity in the varsity eight race. Trinity finished in 7:27.3, with MIT back in 8:05.1 as the Engineers were hampered by the conditions. Bates was unable to finish the race.
