SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – After conceding the first goal, MIT rattled off 18 in a row as it went on to defeat Mount Holyoke College, 23-2, in a NEWMAC women's lacrosse game on Saturday afternoon. Junior
Ashley Thomas (Summit, N.J.) posted two goals and four assists, breaking the career assists record of 104 that was set by current assistant coach
Ana Flooks '19.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Mount Holyoke scored 1:20 into the game but MIT responded with 11 goals in the first quarter. During the next three minutes, junior Gwen Flusche (Ridgewood, N.J.) earned assists on goals by seniors Sydney Pyon (Garnet Valley, Pa.) and Julianne Flusche (Ridgewood, N.J.) while Thomas set up sophomore Jillian Butler (Brecksville, Ohio) before finding the back of the net herself. Pyon added three more goals as junior Annica Lam (Livingston, N.J.) contributed one goal and two assists.
- The Engineers registered goals from Gwen Flusche, Lam, and Julianne Flusche in the second stanza, increasing their advantage to 14-1.
- Following four unanswered goals by MIT in the third quarter, the Lyons ended their scoring drought 36 seconds into the final frame. The Engineers replied with five straight goals with three coming from Lam.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Butler amassed two goals, two assists, five draw controls, three groundballs, and two caused turnovers while Lam finished with five goals and two assists.
- Pyon posted five goals and six draw controls as Julianne Flusche notched four goals and two caused turnovers.
- Gwen Flusche compiled one goal, three assists, four draw controls, and two groundballs while junior Nina Petulla (Natick, Mass.) collected four draw controls.
- First-year Cecilia McCarthy (New York, N.Y.) bolstered the defense with three caused turnovers.
- In net, sophomore Pauline Vien (Brookline, Mass.) made two saves in the first quarter as junior Molly Dulde (Delafield, Wis.) closed out the game with three saves.
