WORCESTER, Mass. — The No. 7 MIT men's lightweight crew team finished sixth in the Varsity Eight Grand Final as the Engineers raced on Sunday at the Eastern Sprints Regatta on Lake Quinsigamond. The team was making its first appearance at Eastern Sprints since 2018.

THE BASICS:

• V8+: 6th
• 2V8+: 9th
• V4+: 4th

RACE BY RACE:

• V8+: The MIT lightweight varsity eight finished 6th in the Grand Final with a time of 5:59.863. MIT advanced out of the morning heats after finishing third in their heat, trailing Cornell and Penn with a time of 5:58.578. Harvard won the Grand in 5:46.739.
• 2V8+: MIT was fifth in Heat 2 of the opening heats, finishing with a time of 6:22.273. The Engineers moved to the Petite Final where they finished third of four with a time of 6:09.886, good for ninth overall in the 2V8+.
• V4+: The lightweight four was fourth in the Grand Final, finishing in 7:33.581.
