LEONIA, N.J. — The No. 7 MIT men's lightweight crew team finished in second place in the Geiger Cup race against No. 4 Cornell and No. 10 Columbia on Saturday on Overpeck Creek at Overpeck Park. The top varsity crews had to compete with a tailwind that increased throughout the day's racing.

THE BASICS:

• V8+: 2nd of 3
• 2V8+: 3rd of 3

RACE BY RACE: 

• V8+: Cornell retained the Geiger Cup, winning with a time of 5:34.26. MIT was second in 5:41.72, with Columbia finishing third in 5:44.97. 
• 2V8+: Columbia had the top 2V boat as the Lions and the Big Red moved away from MIT throughout the race. MIT was third in 6:15.1 as Columbia won in 5:46.5.
