PENNSAUKEN, N.J. — The MIT men's heavyweight crew Varsity 8+ finished in fourth place in the D Final on Sunday at the IRA National Championship on the Cooper River, earning 22nd overall among Varsity 8+ crews at this year's national championship.
The Engineers closed out the weekend one spot back of the team's performance in 2024 where MIT placed 21st overall, marking the team's best finish since 2009.
THE BASICS:

RACE BY RACE:
- V8+: Holy Cross maintained the lead through the first 1000m of the race before seeing Georgetown make a move at the 1500m mark to take the lead. The Hoyas would hold on to win in 5:37.800 with Holy Cross just over a second back in second in 5:38.840. Oregon State ran a consistent third, finishing ahead of MIT in 5:42.250. The Engineers got of to a slow start trailing the field at the 500m mark before steadily moving past Gonzaga at 1000m and US San Diego at 1500m. MIT pushed Oregon State to the finish before finishing fourth in 5:43.190. The Engineers were 5.390 seconds back of Georgetown finishing in 05:43.190.
