Indianapolis, Ind. - Rachel Loh of the MIT women's swimming and diving team has been named one of 42 student-athletes to be awarded the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Loh, who graduated from MIT this summer with a degree in Computer Science and Music, becomes the third student-athlete from the women's swim and dive team to earn the recognition, and first since Margaret Guo '16.
During her time on the team, Loh was a two-time NEWMAC Diver of the Year, a three-time NEWMAC Academic All-Conference member, a three-time CSCAA Scholar All-American, and a six-time NCAA All-American.
Each year, the NCAA awards 126 postgraduate scholarships to student-athletes who have completed their final year of athletics competition.
"I'm honored to receive the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship to support my master's in Music Technology and Computation at MIT. I plan to build a visualization tool to help musicians understand how AI music is created and to enhance human-AI music collaboration. Huge thanks to my coaches, teammates, professors, and Camp Kesem family for their constant support!" said Loh.
The scholarships are distributed three times annually — in the fall, winter and spring — providing 21 scholarships each to men and women per season. Loh will remain at MIT to pursue her Master's Degree in Music Technology and Computation.
