Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 12 Women's Soccer Defeats Lesley, 6-0

LEXINGTON, Mass. – Three first half goals, including two from Alice Vranka, helped the No. 12 MIT women's soccer team to a 6-0 road win over Lesley on Tuesday night. The Engineers had five different goal scorers in the match.  
 
THE BASICS: 

  • Score: MIT 6, Lesley 0 
  • Records: MIT (2-0-0 Overall, 0-0-0 NEWMAC), Lesley (0-1-1, 0-0-0 GNAC) 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Maeve Sullivan helped the Engineers jump out to a quick 2-0 lead. In the sixth minute she raced to the back corner of the goal and sent a pass to the front of the net for Alice Vranka who tipped the ball into the net. Just over four minutes later, Sullivan converted on a penalty kick goal to make it 2-0.  
  • Vranka tallied her second goal of the half off a pass from Sean Luk to make it a three-goal game at 14:21. 
  • Luk made it a 4-0 MIT lead with her goal at 57:03 and just under two minutes later she, along with Leena Mehendale, set up Arianna Doss for the fifth goal of the evening for MIT. 
  • With just under 40 seconds remaining, Emma Wang tallied the sixth goal of the evening for the Engineers.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Vranka's two goals and four total points are both career-highs. 
  • Luk's goal helped her eclipse the 50-point mark as she now has 17 career goals and 17 career assists. 
  • The MIT defense was on point yet again as they allowed just one shot and none on goal for the second straight game. Ava Muffoletto, Maddy Noll, and Cassidy Jennings all saw time in the net for the Engineers. 

UP NEXT: 

  • The Engineers will head to Texas over the weekend, opening play on Saturday, September 6 with a neutral site match against Trinity at 5:00 PM EST. The Lynx will play at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Tuesday, September 9 at 7:00 PM.
