No. 12 Women's Soccer Rallies for 3-1 Win Over No. 10 Trinity (Texas)

IRVING, Texas – In a matchup of two top-15 teams, the No. 12 MIT women's soccer team scored three unanswered goals, erasing a 1-0 deficit, to defeat No. 10 Trinity (Texas) in a neutral site match at the University of Dallas on Saturday afternoon. 
 
THE BASICS: 

  • Score: MIT 3, Trinity (TX) 1 
  • Records: MIT (3-0-0 Overall), Trinity (Texas) (2-1-1 Overall) 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Tigers jumped out an early lead with a goal from Alex Doran at the 7:06 mark. 
  • MIT tied it up at the 34:29 mark as Ella Conopask and Skye Williams set up Emma Wang for her second goal of the season.  
  • Luk put the Engineers in the lead with a penalty kick goal at 49:47.  
  • Lauren Won secured the comeback win with an insurance goal off a corner kick at 73:31. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Maddy Noll got the start for MIT while Ava Muffoletto played the second half to earn her third win of the season. Colette Whitsitt made three saves for the Tigers and fell to 0-1-0. 
  • MIT outshot Trinity 15-6.  
  • Luk scored her second goal of the season and leads the team with six points.  
  • The goal for Won was her first as an Engineer.   
  • Doran scored her second goal for Trinity.   

UP NEXT: 

  • MIT is right back at it tomorrow, Sunday September 7 with a 12:00 PM EST match against host the University of Dallas. The Tigers will host Hardin-Simmons on Friday, September 12 at 6:00 PM CST.
