No. 19 Field Hockey Falls to Endicott, 3-0

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Three different players found the back of the cage as Endicott College defeated No. 19 MIT, 3-0, in a non-conference field hockey game on Wednesday night at Jack Barry Field.
 
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Endicott opened the scoring in the 10th minute when Lily Farnham collected the rebound of a saved shot by Reagan Hicks.
  • The Gulls extended their lead 7:06 into the second quarter courtesy of an open-goal strike by Abby Antonelli from the near side that went to the far post.
  • Endicott notched its final goal of the night on a blast by Lily Johnson from the far side of the arc that slipped inside the near post.
  • MIT made a final surge during the last 4:37 of regulation as it generated six penalty corners and four shots on goal, but the hosts could not break through.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Maeve Zimmer made eight saves for the Engineers while Faith Minickene also collected eight saves for the visitors.
  • MIT ended the night with a 9-6 advantage in penalty corners, but Endicott had a slight edge in shots (16-12) and shots on goal (11-8).
UP NEXT:
  • Both teams will be back in action on Saturday September 6. MIT will host the University of New England at 1:00 PM while Endicott will travel to SUNY New Paltz for a 12:00 PM start.
