NEW LONDON, Conn. – The No. 5 MIT women's swimming and diving team defeated Coast Guard 223-75 on Saturday afternoon at the Roland Hall Pool. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:    

• 400 Medley Relay: The Engineers took the top spot in 3:58.09. Sydney Smith led off with a 59 second time in the 100 back while Daniela Petran and Mary Feliz followed in the breast and fly. Lillian Poag anchored the win. 
• 1,000 Free: Tiffany Kim won the event with a time of 10:35.65 followed by Sarah Bernard in second with a mark of 10:45.71. 
• 200 Free: Jessica Crane won in 1:54.91. 
• 100 Back: Amberlynn Gong finished third with a mark of 1:01.75. 
• 100 Breast: Petran took the top spot (1:07.79) followed by Kathy Nie (1:09.24). 
• 200 Fly: Coming in first was Feliz touching the wall in 2:06.71 followed by Belise Swartwood in second and Natalie Tang in third. 
• 50 Free: Smith won with a final time of 24.82 followed by Annika Naveen in second (24.90). 
• 1 Meter Diving: Maya Zavatsky won the event with an NCAA Regional score of 323.75. 
• 100 Free: Smith grabbed her second individual win with a time of 52.16. 
• 200 Back: Feliz took the top spot in 2:09.04. 
• 200 Breast: Bernard took the win in 2:25.07 followed by Petran with a time of 2:25.72. 
• 500 Free: Crane took the event in 5:07.49 followed in second by Kim. 
• 100 Fly: Swartwood win the event in 57.80. 
• 3 Meter Diving: Logan Yee posted the top score of 278.80 for an NCAA Regional mark. 
• 200 IM: Smith took the win in 2:08.18 followed by Kathy Nie. 
• 200 Free Relay: MIT closed the meet with a win as Poag, Feliz, Rachel Yang, and Naveen finished in 1:39.51.

• MIT returns to the pool weekend when they head to Boston University on Saturday, January 17th for a 1:30 PM meet.
