Women's Swimming and Diving

No. 5 Women's Swim and Dive Captured 202-92 Victory Over No. 19 Amherst

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 5 MIT women's swimming and diving team won 14 of 16 events en route to a 202-92 win over No. 19 Amherst for the final regular season meet of the season at the Zesiger Center Pool. 

Prior to the meet, MIT honored its senior class of: Larissa Gosslau, Miri Griffin, Lauren Levy, Katrina Li, Annika Naveen, Emma Scott, Natalie Tang, and Kathy Zhao

Score:  

  • MIT 202, Amherst 92 

HOW IT HAPPENED:    

  • 200 Medley Relay: Daniela Petran, Sarah Bernard, Lauren Levy and Annika Naveen opened with a victory, finishing in 1:48.02.  
  • 1000 Freestyle: Tiffany Kim claimed the win in 10:36.45 with Katherine Yao in second at 10:51.13. 
  • 200 Freestyle: Lillian Poag took third with a time of 1:56.70 and Kathy Nie finished in sixth in 1:59.60. 
  • 100 Backstroke: Jessica Crane clocked in with the top time at 58.27 while Natalie Tang finished second with a time of 59.91. 
  • 100 Breaststroke: Belise Swartwood earned the win with a time of 1:08.22 and Kyra Cui finished third with a time of 1:09.27. 
  • 200 Butterfly: Chloe Xu won the race in 2:08.55 and Bernard took fourth in 2:14.32.  
  • 50 Freestyle: Kailey Simons claimed the win in 24.51 while Rachel Yang claimed third with a time of 24.84.  
  • 1-Meter Diving: Logan Yee collected 487.87 points to earn the win while Maya Zavatsky finished fourth with 428.91 points. 
  • 100 Freestyle: Naveen swam the top time of 53.67 with Levy in fourth with a time of 55.26. 
  • 200 Backstroke: Petran clocked in with the fastest time of 2:09.25. Mary Feliz finished with the third fastest time of 2:10.56. 
  • 200 Breaststroke: Kathy Nie took the top time of 2:26.91 with Christina Beggs in fifth with a time of 2:34.57.  
  • 500 Freestyle: Crane grabbed the win with a time of 5:03.76 and Tang finished third with a mark of 5:16.15  
  • 100 Butterfly: Swartwood took her third win of the day with a swim of 57.62, just ahead of Amberlynn Gong in second with a time of 59.24  
  • 3-Meter Diving: Yee swept the boards with a score of 508.86. Caroline Laber took fourth with 400.42 points. 
  • 200 IM: Nie placed second in 2:11.07 with Xu posting a third-place time of 2:17.05. 
  • 200 Freestyle Relay: Swartwood, Poag, Petran, and Simons wrapped up the meet with a win in 1:37.99.  
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 
  • Yee hit regional marks on both boards with Zavatsky hitting on the 1-Meter. 

UP NEXT:    

  • Selected student-athletes will compete at the BU Winter Open which runs from Friday, February 6 – Saturday, February 7. The Engineers will then host the 2026 NEWMAC Swimming and Diving Championships which will take place from Thursday, February 19-Sunday, February 22.
