MEDFORD, Mass. -- The MIT women's openweight crew team closed out the fall racing season against Tufts University on Saturday morning on the Malden River.

The Engineers put together solid races throughout the lineup, earning second in the 1x, the top three spots in the 2-, first and second in the 4+, and a victory in the varsity eight with our second varsity eight crew finishing in third place.

"It was a really good day of racing," said MIT assistant coach Matt Hanig. "We knew racing against the reigning Division III National Champions fresh off their fourth consecutive collegiate eight win at the Head Of The Charles was going to be a major challenge. The team did an amazing job of showing up ready to compete. It was a strong way to finish fall competition and are grateful to Tufts for hosting. Also, a shout out to Lana Ghamra and Madeleine Laws for finishing 2nd in the costume contest after racing!
