NORTHAMPTON, Mass.  – MIT's Ruth Lanouette was named the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Rookie of the Week for the week ending February 15. This is the first time she has received this award.
 
In a 2-0 week that saw the Engineers extend their winning streak to seven games, Lanouette averaged 19.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.5 steals. She led all players with 20 points and added six rebounds, four assists, and two steals in a 73-47 victory at Wheaton College last Wednesday. Lanouette then produced 19 points - including the go-ahead basket with 1:09 remaining in regulation - to go along with five assists, four rebounds, one block, and one steal in a 70-65 win at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on Saturday.

MIT wraps up the NEWMAC regular season on Saturday, February 21 when it hosts No. 5 Smith College at 3:15 PM.
