CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – In its final competition of the regular season, the No. 5 MIT men's fencing team compiled a 5-0 record at its Northeast Fencing Conference (NFC) competition on Saturday at Boston College. The Engineers defeated Sacred Heart University (18-9), No. 4 Vassar College (14-13), Wheaton College (20-7), No. 3 Brandeis University (19-8), and No. 11 (NC) Boston College (14-13).
Andy Zhang led the foil unit with a 13-2 record,
Surya Sakhamuri paced the sabre squad with an 11-4 total, and
Corey Zhao powered the epee team with a 10-5 total.

HOW IT HAPPENED – EPEE:
- The epee team posted a 28-17 record which featured a 9-0 outing against Wheaton, a 6-3 performance versus Sacred Heart, and a 5-4 win against Brandeis.
- Zhao's 10-5 ledger featured 3-0 outings against Vassar and Wheaton and a 2-1 mark versus BC.
- Rishi Shiv and Alec Zhang both went 9-6 on the day. Shiv won all three bouts against Sacred Heart and Wheaton, posted a 2-1 record versus Brandeis, and added a win against Vassar. Alec Zhang, meanwhile, had three victories versus Wheaton and went 2-1 against Sacred Heart, Brandeis, and BC.
HOW IT HAPPENED – FOIL:
- The foil team generated a 32-13 record, highlighted by an 8-1 mark against Sacred Heart, a 7-2 total versus Brandeis, and 6-3 ledgers against Vassar and BC.
- Andy Zhang defeated all three opponents from Sacred Heart, Vassar, and Brandeis and had 2-1 outings versus Wheaton and BC.
- Henry Zhang finished at 12-3 following 3-0 records against Sacred Heart, Vassar, and Wheaton, a 2-1 performance versus Brandeis, and a victory against BC.
- Niles Liu posted a 7-2 record as he won all three bouts against BC and went 2-1 versus Sacred Heart and Brandeis.
- Yehong Jiang went 0-6 on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED – SABRE:
- The sabre team compiled a 25-20 ledger, including a 7-2 victory against Brandeis and a 6-3 decision versus Wheaton.
- Sakhamuri's 11-4 total featured 3-0 performances against Vassar, Wheaton, and Brandeis, and a win versus Sacred Heart and BC.
- Zachary Tong went 7-6 as he posted 2-1 marks against Sacred Heart and Brandeis while adding victories versus Vassar, Wheaton, and BC.
- Rohan Dalal registered a 6-7 total as he went 2-1 versus Brandeis and BC, 1-1 against Sacred Heart, and earned a win versus Wheaton.
- Henry Smith had a 1-1 showing against Wheaton in his only outing of the day.
- Eric Wang ended the day at 0-2 after competing against Sacred Heart and Vassar.
