WORCESTER Mass. -- In difficult conditions with a strong cross-tailwind on Lake Quinsigamond, the MIT men's heavyweight crew team reclaimed the James Donahue Cup for the first time since 2022, defeating Williams, WPI, Washington College and Connecticut College on Saturday morning. 

VARSITY EIGHT (V8+):

• Results: 1st of 5 (5:44.6) - DONAHUE CUP WINNER 
• Lineup: C. Arnav Aggarwal; 8. Nielsen Euvrard; 7. James Cabot; 6. Sam Dowd; 5. Gunnar Kohler; 4. Declan King; 3. August Berne; 2. Jonathan Wang; 1. Drake Elliott 
• The varsity eight reclaimed the Donahue Cup, winning a closely contested race over Williams by just over a half second. Williams had an early lead by a few seats and maintained the margin until the 1250mmark. The Engineers made a move over the remainder of the course, taking a three-seat lead before the sprint. Williams took two seats back as the teams pushed to the finish but MIT held on to win by .56 seconds.  

SECOND VARSITY EIGHT (2V8+):

• Results: 2nd of 4 (6:00.47) 
• Lineup: C. Maddie Taylor; 8. Matt Tyburski; 7. Fin Duffy; 6. Rainer Arendt; 5. Harrison Scarrow; 4. Sam Warman; 3. Calvin Hrycay; 2. Luke Pittaro; 1. Joseph Ortega 
• The second varsity eight finished 4.51 seconds behind first place Williams. The Engineers were 17.21 seconds ahead of third place WPI.  

THIRD VARSITY FOUR (3V4+):

• Results: 1st of 5 (7:25.2) 
• Lineup: C. Shoshana Urman; 4. Paddy Garman; 3. Matt Curtis; 2. Liam May; 1. Felix Poydar 
• MIT went head-to-head again in fours, with the Engineers winning by .3 seconds with a time of 7:25.2, narrowly defeating Williams in 7:25.5.
