LEWISTON, Maine – The MIT men's heavyweight crew first and second eights defeated Bates College in the first dual race between the programs on Bates' home Androscoggin River. Conditions on Saturday were sunny with a slight headwind and head current on flat water. 

VARSITY EIGHT (V8+): 

• Results: 1st of 2 (5:57.8) 
• Lineup: C. Arnav Aggarwal; 8. Nielsen Euvrard; 7. James Cabot; 6. Sam Dowd; 5. August Berne; 4. Declan King; 3. Gunnar Kohler; 2. Jonathan Wang; 1. Matt Tyburski 
• The varsity eight race was never really in doubt, with MIT moving away steadily from the start. MIT's winning margin was almost nine seconds. 

SECOND VARSITY EIGHT (2V8+): 

• Results: 1st of 3 (6:07.6) 
• Lineup: C. Maddie Taylor; 8. Rainer Arendt; 7. Harrison Scarrow; 6. Sam Warman; 5. Fin Duffy; 4. Matt Curtis; 3. Calvin Hrycay; 2. Luke Pittaro; 1. Paddy Garman 
• The 2V race was closer, with Bates remaining in contact for most of the race course before MIT pulled away for a five-second victory.
