BETHLEHEM, Pa. – MIT women's openweight crew juniors Elizabeth Jackson, Madeleine Laws, and Michelle Peng have been named to the 2026 Academic All-Patriot League Team. Jackson and Peng each repeated as honorees while Laws earned the first Patriot League honor of her career.
All nine of the Patriot League women's rowing member institutions were represented on this year's Academic All-Patriot League Team, with MIT the only institution to earn multiple selections, with three. The most MIT student-athletes to earn Academic All-Patriot League recognition in a single season was four in 2014.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA (on a 4.00 scale) and be a starter or key player in their sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
Jackson (an aerospace engineering major, 3.80 GPA), Laws (a chemical and biological engineering major, 4.00 GPA), and Peng (materials science and engineering major, 3.90 GPA) each rowed in the MIT varsity eight at the Patriot League Championship, helping the Engineers earn a spot on the podium with a third-place finish. The trio competed throughout the spring in the varsity eight, winning gold at the New England Rowing Championships.
These honors recognize student-athletes who excel in their sport and the classroom. The awards are voted on by Patriot League women's rowing sports information directors, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.
